Clubfoot

Clubfoot is a common condition that results in multiple deformities of the foot. There is typically a higher-than-normal arch and a turning in of the foot. It can occur in one or both feet.

Flexible Flatfoot

Flexible flatfoot is a very common condition in which a child has a very low arch, or no arch at all in their foot. Usually this is painless and requires no treatment at all. If painful, orthotic arch supports and Achilles tendon stretching may help.

Tarsal Coalition

Tarsal coalitions occur when there is an abnormal connection between bones in the foot. Though these may be present at birth, they often do not cause symptoms until later in childhood and adolescence. Symptoms may include painful flatfoot and frequent ankle sprains. In many cases, rest, orthotic arch supports and/or a brief period of bracing or casting provides relief. For patients who continue to have pain despite these treatments, surgery may be required.
