Cerebral Palsy

Cerebral palsy is a group of muscular disorders caused by an interruption of oxygen to the brain before, during or shortly after birth. Damage to the developing brain results in muscle spasticity, weakness, and impaired coordination. The extent to which a child is affected depends on the severity of the brain injury. Orthopedic treatment is aimed at maximizing joint range of motion to optimize the child’s function.
